What is mesotherapy?
It is a modern therapeutic method used by the aesthetics industry. Through the injection of many essential ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamins, peptides, etc, the dermatologists are able to improve the overall condition of the patients' skin.
Mesotherapy is effective because it bypasses the otherwise impenetrable dermis-epidermis membrane. Practically all bio-active ingredients are injected directly this achieving maximum effectiveness. This method slows down the natural aging processes that take place in the human skin. As a result, there are less visible wrinkles; the skin looks healthier, younger and smoother.
Mesotherapy is also used to fight baldness (hair loss) through the injection of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and enzymes, directly into the scalp. This "feeds" the hair follicles and stimulates their growth.
Mesotherapy is most suitable for:
- patients with facial and neck wrinkles and lines who want to slow down the aging process
- male and female alopecia, androgenic alopecia, stress-induced alopecia, and post-pregnancy alopecia
Does it hurt? Are there any side effects?
Each individual has a different threshold of pain and some patients might experience discomfort. In such cases, the dermatologist may apply local anesthetic crème. It is normal to have local redness, slight bruises or edema. Usually, they disappear after 2-3 days.
In which cases I should not go for mesotherapy?
It is not advisable to undergo mesotherapy if you have bacterial, virus, or fungi infections in the areas you want to treat. If you have psoriasis or dermatitis but you are in remission you have to consult your physician before going for mesotherapy.
It is important to refrain from the intaking of anticoagulants (such as aspirin) at least two days prior the procedure.
How many interventions do I need? How long are they?
The number of procedures varies from 3 to 10 depending on the problem under treatment. Usually, each manipulation lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. The intervals between the sessions can be 1-3 weeks.
