What is abdominoplasty?
This is a cosmetic surgery procedure that aims to remove the excess skin and fat from the abdomen. It also tightens the abdominal muscles/wall. Usually, those who take advantage of this procedure are people who have lost a lot of weight or women after pregnancy. There are various techniques depending on the individual. However, there are two types of cuts – the first one follows the waist, while the second follows the central abdominal line. Of course, in some cases, surgeons use a combination of the two. The good news is that if the patient has abdominal scars from previous operations they can be removed, too.
Abdominoplasty requires general anesthesia. Depending on the size of the cut, the recovery process may vary from 5 to 10 days.
Patients suitable for abdominoplasty:
- people with no life-threatening conditions
- people willing to lead a healthy lifestyle after the cosmetic surgery procedure.
